DT - Kansas City Chiefs
2024 Outlook
Chiefs DL Chris Jones said he hopes to "skip out on training camp" again in 2024.
Fantasy Impact
Jones held out all of training camp last year while holding out for a new contract. He is coming off his second straight All-Pro campaign and believes some days off can benefit him. "I've already been talking to Andy about, 'Let me skip out on training camp. I'm a little older, right?'" Jones said. "I can feel it. I can feel when we have a day on training camp. Give me like two days off and one day on then, and we maybe can work something out, you know?"
Superstar DT Chris Jones and the Kansas City Chiefs have reached terms on a blockbuster deal, a five-year deal worth about $32 million per year with about the first $95 million guaranteed.
Fantasy Impact
Jones has been one of the best defenders of his generation, playing 123 games with 75.5 sacks and 78 tackles for loss. He has helped win multiple championships for the Chiefs and has been one of the best postseason performers in recent years. He will be paid handsomely with what is expected to be the biggest defensive deal in league history.
Chiefs GM Brett Veach said the goal is to get a long-term deal done with Chris Jones.
Fantasy Impact
"Just like last year our goal and intent is hopefully to get something long term done," Veach said. After the two sides couldn't get a deal done last season, Jones held out before returning to Kansas City after Week 1. It seems more likely a deal will get done this offseason.
