Javonte Williams
RB - Denver Broncos
2024 Outlook
Javonte Williams will need to earn the starting role for the Broncos over 2024 fifth-round pick Audric Estime.
Fantasy Impact
Williams struggled in 2023 coming off of an ACL injury. He simply wasn’t the dynamic back we’ve seen over his first two years in the league. With the new coaching staff in town having drafted a running back of their own, his chances of seeing a workhorse role have lessened. Williams has the talent, but his physical capability to retain the starting role is very much in question. It’s a good but low time for fantasy managers, but it does come with some risk.
Broncos coach Sean Payton said Javonte Williams is "looking good" in camp.
Fantasy Impact
Williams is approaching being two years removed from tearing his ACL. It is still an uncertainty as to what the backfield will look like with Denver this season, but Williams should be the 1A at the very least. His upside from a fantasy perspective could be a bit capped if it turns out to be a big committee with Audric Estime and/or Samaje Perine potentially being involved.
Javonte Williams rushed for 32 yards and a touchdown on nine carries while securing 7 of 9 targets for 43 yards in Sunday's loss to the Raiders.
Fantasy Impact
Williams wrapped up a comeback campaign with a solid fantasy output Sunday afternoon. After playing in only four games due to injury last season, Williams was on the field for 16 this season. He finishes as the Broncos' leading rusher, gaining 774 yards with three touchdowns on 217 carries. Williams also set a new season best with seven receptions on Sunday while crossing the 225 receiving yards mark.
Javonte Williams carried the ball 15 times for 41 yards and caught all three of his targets for 17 yards in a 16-9 win over the Chargers in Week 17.
Fantasy Impact
Williams got a goal-line carry from the Chargers' one-yard line in the fourth quarter but lost a yard on the tote. It has been a mostly quiet season for the running back as he will take just four all-purpose touchdowns in the season finale against the Raiders. He can be considered as a low-end RB2 for that matchup.
Javonte Williams carried the ball 11 times for 24 yards and one touchdown while also catching all three of his targets for a loss of five yards and losing a fumble in the Broncos' 26-23 loss to the New England Patriots in Week 16.
Fantasy Impact
Williams was unable to find much room on the ground despite finding the end zone, averaging a paltry 2.2 yards per carry in a losing effort Sunday night. The versatile running back will look to offer fantasy managers a sneaky option in a favorable Week 17 contest against the Los Angeles Chargers.
