Gus Edwards has been labeled the “clear lead back” by a Chargers beat reporter. Edwards has been dealing with an injury but the expectation is he will be healthy for training camp. (Source: The Athletic)

Fantasy Impact: The former Raven has been seen as the favorite for the starting job since joining the team in free agency. Edwards is more an early down bruiser and goalline back and should lead the team in overall touches. However, he doesn’t profile as a third-down option. J.K. Dobbins or rookie Kimani Vidal may see more work in that role over him.

Javonte Williams will need to earn the starting role for the Broncos over 2024 fifth-round pick Audric Estime. (Source: The Athletic)

Fantasy Impact: Williams struggled in 2023 coming off of an ACL injury. He simply wasn’t the dynamic back we’ve seen over his first two years in the league. With the new coaching staff in town having drafted a running back of their own, his chances of seeing a workhorse role have lessened. Williams has the talent, but his physical capability to retain the starting role is very much in question. It’s a good but low time for fantasy managers, but it does come with some risk.

Las Vegas Raiders TE Brock Bowers, the team's 2024 first-round pick and incoming rookie, will have to "earn" his opportunities in the passing game "by blocking in the run game," according to Raiders tight ends coach Luke Steckel. (Source: Tashan Reed, The Athletic)

Fantasy Impact: Despite his draft status as the No. 13 pick, Bowers will still need to earn his role in the passing game, says his position coach, who admits it is an "old-school mentality." Second-year TE Michael Mayer (6'4" and 265 pounds) had a 27-304-2 stat line as a rookie under. Steckel is a part of the new Raiders staff in 2024 after spending 2023 as an OL assistant with the Chicago Bears. Bowers (6'3" and 243 pounds) may have to earn his role as a blocker to see a large snap share as a rookie, though he never had a season with a sub-67.0 PFF run-blocking grade at Georgia.

Free agent safety Tashaun Gipson Sr. will face a six-game suspension for violating the league's performance-enhancing substances policy. (Source: Adam Schefter on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: Gipson spent 2023 with the San Francisco 49ers, starting 19 games between the regular season and the postseason (including the Super Bowl). The veteran safety will turn 34 in August and has played 12 seasons in the NFL, seeing somewhat of a career resurgence in S.F. (career third-best PFF defensive grade in 2023 — 73.6). If he does sign with a team, he will be forced to miss some time, assuming his team does not win a potential appeal.

Jacoby Brissett reportedly “is the starter" for the Patriots entering training camp. (Source: The Athletic)

Fantasy Impact: It makes sense as of now that the veteran could start for New England in Week 1. Drake Maye could still work his way into the immediate starting role with a strong training camp. This will be a camp battle to monitor.

Ja'Lynn Polk could make an "immediate impact” for the Patriots this season. (Source: ESPN.com)

Fantasy Impact: Polk was the No. 37 overall selection in the NFL Draft back in April. He joins a wide open Patriots wide receiver room where the top target figures to be up for grabs. The rookie out of Washington has been working with Drake Maye after practices early on as the two look to build a rapport.

Connor Williams is expected be ready for camp, but he is unlikely to return to Dolphins. (Source: ProFootballTalk on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: Williams was injured in Week 11 last season and was expected to be sidelined into this season, but his rehab has gone quicker than expected. He has spoken to multiple teams, and it appears he is not expected to return to the Dolphins.

Chiefs DL Chris Jones said he hopes to "skip out on training camp" again in 2024. (Source: Around the NFL on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: Jones held out all of training camp last year while holding out for a new contract. He is coming off his second straight All-Pro campaign and believes some days off can benefit him. "I've already been talking to Andy about, 'Let me skip out on training camp. I'm a little older, right?'" Jones said. "I can feel it. I can feel when we have a day on training camp. Give me like two days off and one day on then, and we maybe can work something out, you know?"

Beat reporter Patricia Traina labeled Wan'Dale Robinson as the "biggest under-the-radar" player on the Giants roster. (Source: Patricia Traina on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: Robinson caught 60 passes for 525 yards and a score in his season last year. He has the chance to take another step forward this year as he enters his third season in the NFL. Malik Nabers figures to likely be the top receiver in New York, but the No. 2 target for Daniel Jones is up for grabs.

Vikings coach Kevin O’Connell said Jordan Addison has gotten stronger and more physical this year. (Source: ESPN.com)

Fantasy Impact: "Jordan Addison had as good of an offseason program as really you can ask for," O'Connell said. "[He is] a guy that had a ton of success in Year 1. And really, from a standpoint of getting a little stronger, getting a little bit more comfortable playing through contact and still playing with that great burst and transition that he has, you saw some real growth there [this spring]." Addison remains the WR2 for the Vikings behind Justin Jefferson heading into this season with Sam Darnold or J.J. McCarthy under center for Minnesota.

The Colts say Anthony Richardson will be a "full go" for training camp. (Source: ESPN.com)

Fantasy Impact: Richardson was a full participant throughout OTAs and Day 1 of minicamp. He left Day 2 of minicamp early and sat out the final day. "He'll be full go," Colts GM Chris Ballard said. "He was full go all the way up until the last day of OTAs, and we had two heavy throwing sessions the two days before, and so we backed off a little on the last day." Richardson showcased his flashes of upside before his injury last season and will remain a high upside quarterback from a fantasy perspective this season.
